So where do you start? Well first thing is first, measure your space and draw a simple plan view/floor plan of what you want.   This does not need to be anything special, just a simple sketch of how long each side will be and if it will touch things like a wall on one end.  

Next decide what your bar is going to be used for!   Are people going to sit or stand at it?   What about food, do you want them to sit and eat a full meal on the tabletop?   Weight the pros and cons in your situation and write down your decisions.
